French: Flirty phrases
A good line gives the other person something to smile at and something to answer. Start with a phrase you would actually say, not the boldest one in the room.
Find one that sounds like you.
- 1 / Bold
Je vais être direct : j'aime bien ce qui se passe entre nous.
Equivalent in your language: I'll be direct: I really like where this is going.
What it means: Expresses romantic excitement and positive momentum as the connection deepens.
When to use it: Use when the conversation is flowing effortlessly and you want to acknowledge the mutual spark.

Ce soir, tu choisis ma tenue et je choisis la tienne. Marché conclu ?
Equivalent in your language: You pick my outfit tonight, and I'll pick yours. Deal?
What it means: A fun, low-stakes game of style trust that turns getting ready into playful anticipation.
When to use it: Use when planning an evening date or special night out together.

Tu viens souvent ici, ou c'est juste mon jour de chance ?
Equivalent in your language: Do you come here often, or is this my lucky day?
What it means: Asks whether someone comes here often, then playfully adds that running into them might be your lucky day.
When to use it: When you are both at the same bar, café, or event and a relaxed opener fits the moment.

Tu me donnes des papillons dans le ventre.
Equivalent in your language: You give me the best butterflies.
What it means: Telling someone they give you that fluttery, excited kind of nerves — the good kind you actually enjoy
When to use it: When the mood is warm and things already feel a little mutual, and you want to say it out loud

OK — raconte-moi quelque chose d'amusant sur toi ?
Equivalent in your language: What's your most useless talent? I'm hoping for a demonstration.
What it means: A casual pivot that invites someone in the group to share a fun story about themselves, getting the conversation moving.
When to use it: When a group hangout or chat needs a friendly spark and people are settling in.

Tu fais toujours battre mon cœur aussi vite ?
Equivalent in your language: Do you always get my heart racing like this?
What it means: Asking someone whether they're aware of the pull they have on people — framing their attractiveness as almost unfair
When to use it: After a prolonged flirty interaction where you're clearly affected

Il y a un truc chez toi qui me donne envie de me rapprocher.
Equivalent in your language: There's something about you. I keep wanting to get closer.
What it means: A warm, low-key compliment about someone's vibe — the presence and charge they're putting out in the moment
When to use it: After someone has been lighting up the room or carrying the conversation

What it means: Noticing out loud that regular conversation became flirting without a plan — and finding that delightful.
