Privacy Policy

Introduction

This Privacy Policy covers the SideTalk app and website. It explains what information we process, why we use it, and how you can control optional website analytics.

Information We Collect

SideTalk collects minimal data. Specifically:

  • Subscription data: If you subscribe to SideTalk Pro, your purchase is processed by Apple or Google through RevenueCat. We receive anonymised subscription status information (e.g., whether your subscription is active) but do not have access to your payment details.
  • No user accounts: SideTalk does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information such as your name or email address.
  • Product analytics: SideTalk uses PostHog to understand app use and diagnose reliability issues. It receives app lifecycle and screen-use events, together with limited product events such as onboarding and purchase status, feature use, selected language, mode or tone, and static phrase catalogue identifiers, categories and copy or playback outcomes. We do not intentionally send phrase text or meanings, AI Coach prompts or responses, names, contact details, error messages, or component stacks in these events. We do not use PostHog for third-party advertising.
  • AI Coach requests: If you choose to use AI Coach, the text you submit, your selected language and tone, and a pseudonymous app identifier are sent to our Cloudflare Worker and AI service provider to generate a response. Please do not include names, contact details, or other private information. We do not intentionally retain Coach prompts or generated responses on our servers after completing the request.

Optional Website Analytics

The website uses Google Analytics only after you select “Accept analytics”. Before you accept, or if you reject, we do not load Google Analytics or send analytics events to Google. We save your acceptance or rejection in local storage in your browser. If browser storage is unavailable, your choice applies only to the current page visit. You can reopen “Analytics settings” at the bottom of any page and change your choice. Withdrawing consent stops future analytics and reloads the page; it does not undo data already sent.

With your consent, Google Analytics helps us understand website visits and which features people use. It may use cookies and process identifiers, page views, browser and device information, and approximate location. Google processes this information under its own privacy terms. Our website hosting and audio delivery providers may separately process technical request information, such as IP addresses, to deliver the services.

Our custom website events may record copying a phrase, actual audio playback, demo selection, app store link clicks, starting a game, revealing a punchline, and share intent, as well as copy or audio failures. Custom event fields describe locale, language, content identifiers and revision, and action categories such as placement, intent, store, scenario, tone, or failure reason. We do not include phrase text, clipboard contents, AI prompts, recipient names, or personal recipient links in these custom event fields. A share-intent event does not establish that a message was delivered or identify a recipient.

Audio Content Delivery

Phrase audio files are delivered via Cloudflare R2, a content delivery network. These requests are standard HTTPS fetches and do not transmit any user-identifiable data. No personal information is stored on or collected by the CDN.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share the minimum information needed to operate the app with RevenueCat for subscription status, Cloudflare for secure request routing and delivery, the AI service provider when you use AI Coach, and PostHog for limited product analytics and diagnostics. Those providers process data under their own privacy terms.

Data Storage & Security

We do not maintain user accounts or store Coach prompts and generated responses as a product feature. Subscription information is managed by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat. Operational service providers may process request data transiently to provide their services in accordance with their respective privacy policies.

Children’s Privacy

SideTalk is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
