French: Date-planning phrases
The conversation is going well. Now give it somewhere to go. Use these phrases to turn a vague 'we should' into coffee, dinner, or a plan you can both look forward to.

Equivalent in your language: Where should I meet you?
What it means: Hands them the choice of where to meet — practical and easygoing, and it quietly signals you're open and flexible rather than fixed on your own plan.
When to use it: Once a date is set and you're working out where to meet.
- 2 / Warm
C’est quand, ta prochaine soirée libre ?
Equivalent in your language: What night are you free next?
What it means: Asks them to name a night, turning a warm exchange into a concrete plan without sounding like a formal invitation.
When to use it: After a warm exchange you want to keep going and you're ready to turn it into a real plan

Ça te dit une escapade surprise d'une nuit ? Un petit sac, et on part à six heures.
Equivalent in your language: Fancy a surprise night away? Pack an overnight bag—we can leave at six.
What it means: Initiates a spontaneous surprise getaway without overthinking logistics.
When to use it: Use when you have booked a surprise weekend retreat or cabin getaway.

What it means: A short arrival text that says you're here and outside — you've reached the spot and are letting them know, with nothing more attached.

What it means: A low-stakes invitation to turn a conversation into something real in the near future.
When to use it: As a first text-based invitation after meeting someone in person

What it means: Puts the final scheduling detail in their hands — considerate and easy to respond to.
When to use it: Once the day and place are locked in and you're confirming the last detail

What it means: A direct, confident invitation to an evening meal.
When to use it: Use when you have good texting rapport and want to set up an evening date.

Make the moment yours.
Suggest one real idea and an easy choice of times. Keep the logistics clear even when the invitation is playful.
Add the actual place or activity you have been talking about rather than sending a generic invitation.
For a change of plans, say what changed and offer a specific alternative. A clear message can still sound warm.
